Buhl- Free blog #5

Wings of Desire is a movie about angels and their presence on Earth day in and day out. As the angels remain on Earth, they dabble into people’s lives to try to make their days better. Each angel has the power to know what humans are thinking without humans having to voice opinions or concerns. They intervene in human life to help bring peace, love and joy into life on Earth. It is a common cultural thought that everyone has a guardian angel watching out for them during their days. Each person has a different perspective of how angels intervene with their lives. The main angel mostly follows this woman who is an acrobat in the circus. He follows her and is with her even when she is alone; he brings warmth and a nice presence. The angels act in a God like way, even when you think you are alone, you really are not. God is always with us, even in our darkest hours to our most beautiful love. The main angel is with the acrobat even when she is upset; when they finally meet face to face they speak to each other as if they have known each other for a while, even though she has technically never met him. This can also parallel with the way people speak and pray to God. We pray to God in an easy free way like the angel and the acrobat speak with each other the first time they meet.

The main angel through out his life of being an angel usually stand over, or above whom ever he is with or watching over. By the end of the movie the angel and the acrobat meet and can be together; what is interesting here is that the angel is on the ground looking up as she preforms her acrobatic routine. This is opposite of what we usually think, angels are usually in the air as us humans are down on the ground. This change in role amplifies the angels change from being an angel to a human.
