Chloé Kent - IN-CLASS MOVIES #4 – Northfork
The
film Northfork definitely had some confusing elements to me. The
'story' of the film was about a town being evacuated, and was meant
to capture the spirit of the town through the characters. I had a
hard time appreciating this film because overall the plot was lacking
in fluidity. The characters were disconnected from each other and as
I watched I was hoping for there to be a 'come together' moment, but
that never really happened. It was also a strange film aesthetically
because it was predominately about a little boy who was dying, but
yet the film was bedded with randomly timed puns and one-liners that
took you out of the sad moment of watching the boy die. In the film,
there's a sense of foundation being lost, the characters constantly
carry everything with them, and there's a sense of everything is
temporary. I feel like the script and overall composition of the film
had the same feel, there was a lack in foundation in the characters
development within each other and within the plot.
