Luke Taylor Reading #2: Heath Ledger’s Unfortunate Demise/The Enemy is Real

Lately for whatever reason I’ve really been thinking a lot about Heath Ledger and how truly saddened I am by him committing suicide after one of the most incredible films I’ve ever watch: The Dark Night Rises. I read up on some articles about Ledger’s death and would like to share a little about what I found out. Ledger played the role of the Joker and to many, including myself, he perfected it. However, that is the very problem to why everything went down the way it did. Ledger took the character so serious that he unfortunately lost his mind; he himself became the joker in reality. Reports say that he “locked himself in his hotel and would study the joker’s character for hours at a time.” I can only imagine how evident Satan must have been in all of this.
The Joker is described in the Batman series to be the antagonist that is “introduced as a psychopath with a warped, static sense of humor.” Furthermore, Roger Englehart states that the Joker is “this very crazy, scary character” so it is safe to say that playing the role of Joker can certainly do a lot of damage to someone’s heart and mind. I can only imagine how dark Ledger’s times would have felt like knowing that he locked himself in his hotel room only to study the character of what some could say is the most demonic of all the villains in Batman. I can only imagine how much Satan must have been right in that room with him slowly sucking the life out of him and telling him lies. This reading certainly made me realize how evil and real the enemy can be and it is sad to know he took a man like Heath Ledger just by desiring to master the character of a great film. Rest in peace Heath Ledger.
