A book that I have been reading this
semester in my spare time is “Kisses from Katie”. Given that I am a Senior in
college, I have been incredibly busy trying to tie up loose ends, while
maintaining a good GPA for my last semester. Therefore, I have not been able to
read this book as thorough or as often as I would have preferred. However, the
few chapters that I have read have been incredibly inspiring. Katie was a
Senior in high school who has everything should could ever want and more. She
drove a nice car, had a great boyfriend, and was set up well to go to college
and have a great career ahead of her. At the same time, she had a tugging in
her heart to spend a year in a foreign country doing missions work. Long story
short, Katie literally sold everything she had, moved to Africa and has yet to
return. She works at an orphanage and has adopted more than 14 girls that she
calls her daughters. The craziest part is that she did all of this when she was
only 19. I have been dreading the “next phase” as it is still pretty uncertain
what I will be doing. This story inspired me to follow God whole-heartedly and
he will provide everything I need to get where He’s leading me. I have no idea
where that may be, but I am excited to continue on a lifelong journey with Him,
continually discovering “what’s next”.
