The film, Northfork is a 2003 depiction of a town
that must literally pack everything, including the houses, and move. The town,
located in a valley, will soon have a dam built that will flood everything if
it’s not removed. The film contains several small plots that tell the stories
of characters who are reluctant to move. There are several people who were born
and raised in Northfork and are doing everything in their power to not have to
move their lives away. The film also tells the story of a father-son team who
is responsible for going to houses and evacuating them.
I
grew up in a small town with a tiny population. I had trees and cornfields as
neighbors, and I loved the simplistic lifestyle. I was born and raised in the
same house and my parents still live there to this day. I can relate to some of
the characters in Northfork because had this happened to my family, I am
certain that we would have done everything in our power to stay.
