Plotz Free # 2 Falk Gallery

With my Search For Beauty class we went on a mini field trip to the falk gallery next to the mariners museum. This art museum has elusively american representational art. I thought the style of doing small stokes that up close look like a chaotic mess but far away become beautiful representations of the world was absolutely incredible. Aside form the seen in Farris Buller, I have never seen this style of art. I like it more than an exact reflection of works for the swipes of the paint brush allow the painting to have a sort of in motion feel to them. While they are not exact pictures, they have much more life and seem more real in a sense. One picture that I partially enjoyed was one of a lone tree on a cliff next to the ocean. The picture did not show the entire tree rather it was chopped off at the top and made you focus on the trunk and everything surrounding it. Because of the style of painting I could imagine the harsh wind actively present in the work. A very cool painting, and very cool technique that provides a good medium from a picture indoors to real life.
