The movie Heaven is For Real is a movie that was
just released that tells the story of three-year-old Colton Burpo. The movie is
based off of the book and is a true story. For many Christians this book is
inspirational in confirming their beliefs of heaven, while for non-believers,
this book is bogus. I wrote my senior seminar last semester on Near Death
Experiences and what happens in the brain biologically speaking when someone
approaches the brink of death. While there are many scientific theories that can
try to disprove the validity of this experience, it is hard to read something
so powerful and ignore it.
After the uproar of the book a few
years ago, filmmakers decided to create a movie based upon this book. Along
with the book, the movie has received controversial reviews and ratings. ABC
reviewed the film, and determined that this film was designed for a faith-based
audience. I suspect, however, that the movie will appeal to other viewers who
are interested in what the rage is about, as I think this move will capture the
hearts and minds of it’s viewers.
