Last semester I started watching the show How I Met Your Mother. I immediately became connected to it and proceed to binge watch them until I caught up to the current season (which I completed during winter break). I’m not sure if watching so much was smart or healthy for me, but I did it and I was able to watch most of the final season as it came out week by week. The final episode left my mind in bewildered. I honestly did not know if I liked or hated its climax. At first I was pissed, for the show lead you up to this huge beautiful climax of meeting the women of his dreams, marring here, and being happy living with her for the rest of his life, and does a complete diversion. In case anyone reading this is a fan and hasn't seen it I don’t want to spoil the beans of what happens but rather that what does was not something I fully expected. Looking back, after a day or so from it, it does make sense what happens but I’m still not sure if I liked it. The final episode while being climatic jumps so many years and so many events its hard to fully grasp Ted’s feelings towards the mother (the one the show was about the entire time). If what happened was how the directors need it, than episodes, such as The Time Traveler, that jerk the heart in a love story of two beloveds becomes almost lies to the heart. I understand the ending and the directors intention, but I’m not sure I was fully appeased with its final conclusion; for while it fell back on a love story that was thrown in and out of the entire series, it make the love story that was at the forefront of the show (the one with Ted and his wife) not very impacting.
