Megan MacDonald- The AT (Personal Post)

There will always be one moment in my life where I can look back and say, "I hiked the AT for two weeks straight, and smelt like shit, and I liked it."  I look back at those times and think how blessed I was to have the opportunity and the resources to attend such a great trip with so many fond memories with so many great people.  To think I almost did not go on the AT because I was "suppose" to go to Africa during that time.  My and a group from CNU had built an orphange in Tanzania and we planned to go over and see it during the same time as the AT trip.  I was determined to go to Africa, so with everything in me I was determined to make this trip happen, and everything that I planned continue to fall apart.  After countless attempts, I slowly realized the voyage to Africa it was not meant to be.  The same day a close friend told me of the trip she would be attending during maymester. That same day I signed up.  I had the no showering thing down, but I had never been camping, never been hiking, and never used snickers as a sense of protein.  But ever since that trip, I have been different.  I have been more open and flexible to whatever God has in store.  I loved that trip with my all that I am and I look forward to many more adventure on the AT!
