Philip Vivirito Reading Blog 5

My Bible study over the semester has been reading through the book of Hebrews. We are currently on chapter 9, and it has been an awesome experience reading through it and discussing the allegorically and symbolism throughout the book. The book centers on Jesus and what Jesus has done for mankind. My favorite part of Hebrews is chapter 4 verses 12-13: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” I love the phrase God’s word is alive and active, it just shows how strong He is and how powerful his word can be on someone’s heart. I find it interesting that it is compared to a double-edged sword, but I think it is to symbolize how strong it is.
