Wings of Desire
The film provided interesting views on angels…
I felt that, in part, the idea of a fallen angel (aka an
angel who decided to become human) was almost seen as acceptable when it
personally validates the idea of fallen angels
As a film standpoint I feel that it creates an interesting understanding
of enlightened and human understandings of existence. The black and white
contrast of an angel’s vision is a symbol of right and wrong impartial views of
morality. The human vision is in color which is a symbol of a more feelings
based idea of morality.
The film provokes thoughts of love and its pursuits to
abandon even the most elevated positions like being an angel in order to be
with the one you love. Like Christ, who gave up his position in heaven to dwell
and rescue those he loved is seen as a symbol id certain scenes like the angel
who feel in love with a woman and abandoned angel life for her.
