As Christians we strive, or should be striving, to better
ourselves in Christ. It is a great quest filled with struggles and hardships. I
find that after we sin we try to make it up to God by praying for forgiveness
or reading the Bible, maybe even fasting to show how truly sorry we are. Yet I
believe that our problem is not prayer, reading God’s word, or fasting but
rather it is the fact that we try to prove ourselves through these actions to
remove guilt and to carry on our way. When we try to fix ourselves we only fix
our flesh, our spirit man/woman is what is in need of fixing.
Truth, all people sin, pastors, deacons, evangelists,
anointed disciples, Christians, un-believers; we all sin, we all sin. Can we
help the work of God and stop judging others? I am called by God to minister
and sometimes more than the sin itself it is the dread of another believer
ridiculing me of my failure. Although I have not been ridiculed it is the
attitude that church goers uphold….”come clean to church to receive God”, if
that were the case no one should attend church because whether it is an
attitude of the heart or a lust of an eye it is all sin and the point of Jesus’
death was and is to remove it not to be judged by another believer
However as a brother or sister in Christ we should build
each other up with prayer and encouragement that provides a shelter for
Christians rather than point fingers and blame
The worst part of sinning is afterwards when the feelings
are gone and it is just you alone on the floor with guilt. Maybe it is less
dramatic and after you sin you recognize that you slipped and in your head you
decide to repent from that but you still feel like a disappointment to God.
Both are expressions of the external aftermath of sin
I was always afraid of losing the freedom after I had been
released from bondage after I messed up again; I would wonder does this mean
that I forfeit the miracle? I would say no, not at first. If however you
continue to struggle in an area instead of bearing guilt call a friend and get
some counseling with that friend. Yes, even anointed pastors need to be checked
and held accountable because they are not perfect either. It all comes down to
your heart, one thing to help remain positive is knowing that it is good that
you feel bad after you sin because you recognize that it is wrong. Staying
positive is so important. You may be asking yourself “am I suppose to do this
after every sin?” I would say you don’t have to but sometimes its those hidden
little sins that build up to cause a huge meltdown
I can’t tell you how many times I have written verses on my
arm or tried to remember the bloody face of Jesus’ crucifixion in order to beat
the sin away…but that is the problem, we are trying to fight this spiritual
battle ourselves with biblical principles and doctrine but when we get down to
business it is only Jesus that can save us from committing sin and forgiving
ourselves. Sometimes it is easier to blast worship music to make us feel better
but I am so sick of just feeling right again, I want to literally lay down
these sins and truly repent. I feel that when our only motive for receiving
God’s forgiveness is to lose the guilt we miss out on a much larger victory.
When we seek forgiveness in order to change our lifestyles we put not only our
guilt into the ground but we crucify our flesh and sin will lose its grip on
your life, a much more satisfying victory. I want to live pure to please my
God, not to perform filthy rag works, but to show God I love and respect his
laws and that I want to grow more intimate with Him!
Another problem I faced was that I had a major weakness
which was lust and over time I slowly began to believe that lust was the only
sin in my life, be careful to identify your weak areas and to not neglect the
other areas of your life.
